1. What is USPS priority mail cubic?

USPS cubic pricing is a way to get cheap freight but heavy packages for high-volume shipping customers. To qualify customers for this affordable transportation option, they must deliver at least 50000 packages per year, weighing less than 20 pounds and no more than 0.5 cubic feet.

With cubic pricing, customers only need to pay for the size and distance of the shipment. Since weight is not part of the USPS cube pricing freight calculation, this is the right way for businesses to reduce their shipping costs for heavier packages.

All of us express, including ups and DHPs, lower freight costs for all airlines, including ups and DHPs.

Simply put, this is a form of transportation, in which case USPS offers discount rates for small and heavy packages that have traditionally been shipped in large quantities.

To qualify for USPS Priority cube pricing, you should ship at least 50000 packages per year. With this option, you only need to pay for the size and distance of the container you sent, that’s all.

This means that the weight is not included in your freight. All major airlines usually calculate the load based on the weight and size of packages. With cubic pricing, smart companies can save a lot of money on the regular delivery of small and heavy boxes.

Unfortunately, not every shipment is eligible for cubic pricing. To find out if you can take advantage of this, you need to know all the details of the USPS cubic pricing requirements.

These measures include:

  • More than 50000 small and heavy packages are delivered each year.
  • The packing should be less than 20 pounds.
  • Packaging must not exceed 0.5 cubic feet.
  • All package sizes should be less than 18 inches.

Of course, if you’re going to use cube pricing, it’s essential to know how to calculate the right price. For example, if you use a subscription box, you must use the following calculation: length x width x height / 1728.

USPS cubic pricing offers high volume shipping customer discount prices for small, heavy packages.

Priority bags less than 20 pounds in weight and 0.5 cubic feet in size, up to 18 inches in length, are eligible for cubic prices as long as you meet the minimum packaging requirements. For these packages, the customer will pay for the transportation cost, not the weight, based on the package’s actual size and transportation distance.

Compared with shipping companies such as FedEx and UPS that only offer weight and distance pricing, USPS cubic pricing is an excellent choice to reduce transportation costs. To meet cubic pricing conditions, customers have to ship more than 50000 packages a year.

2. How does cubic pricing work?

Historically, only e-commerce retailers that ship more than 50000 small and heavy packages a year are eligible for USPS Priority Mail cube’s high postage rates.

Today, in the name of all its sellers, Shibao collects all the packaging quantities to get these incredible discounts. This means that you can access these low prices without requiring the number of packages needed.

The cubic price of your USPS package is measured by calculation:

Length x width x height /1728= cubic feet

Note: all measurements should be rounded to the nearest 0.25 inch. No size more than 18 inches shall be eligible for cube pricing.

Once you have a cubic foot measurement, your package will be divided into five layers:

  • Class 1: packing under ten cubic feet
  • Class 2: packing over 0.10 to 0.20 cubic feet
  • Class 3: packing over 0.20 to 0.30 cubic feet
  • Class 4: packing over 0.30 to 0.40 cubic feet
  • Class 5: packing over 0.40 to 0.50 cubic feet

Size, weight, and price of the low-density package

Postage for parcels over one cubic foot to areas 1 to 9 is based on actual weight or dimensional weight, whichever is greater. Determination of size and weight of the rectangular package

Use the following steps to determine the size weight of a rectangular parcel:

Measure length, width, and height in inches.

Round (see 604.7.0 https://goshippo.com/shipping/usps-cubic-pricing/) to the nearest whole inch for each measurement.

Multiply the length by the width by the height.

If the result exceeds 1728 cubic inches, divide the result by 166 and add

(see 604.7.0 https://goshippo.com/shipping/usps-cubic-pricing/) to the next integer to determine the dimension weight in pounds.

If the size weighs more than 70 pounds, the customer pays 70 pounds.

Determination of size weight of the non-rectangular package

Use the following steps to determine the size weight of non-rectangular Parcels:

Measure length, width, and height in inches—Round (see 604.7.0 https://goshippo.com/shipping/usps-cubic-pricing/) to the nearest whole inch for each measurement.

Multiply the length by the width by the height.

Multiply the result by 780.5.

If the final result exceeds 1728 cubic inches, divide the work by 166 and add (see 604.7.0 https://goshippo.com/shipping/usps-cubic-pricing/) the next integer to determine the dimension weight in pounds.

If the size weight exceeds 70 pounds, the customer pays 70 pounds.

Flat rate package

Only flat rate envelopes or rate boxes produced by USPS are eligible for flat rate prices and are charged flat rates regardless of the actual weight of stamp products or domestic destinations.

Customers may only use USPS made flat rate containers at the applicable flat rate price. USPS produced packages, including fixed-rate boxes, are not eligible to transport live animals.

Flat rate envelope – price and qualification

There are two types of priority mail fixed-rate envelopes produced by USPS: a cardboard envelope and a filled envelope. All priority mail envelopes made by U.S. Postal companies that are smaller than ep14f / W envelopes are eligible for priority mail prices regardless of whether they are marked “flat rate envelopes.”.

The cost of each UPR envelope produced by USPS is a uniform rate, irrespective of postal products or domestic destinations’ actual weight.

Uniform toll box – price and qualification

Only USPS produced flat rate boxes are eligible for the flat rate box price. Each USPS grew priority mail bit rate box is a uniform rate regardless of the actual weight of mail or domestic destinations. See circular 123 – price list applicable prices. The priority mail toll box is as follows:

Small bit rate boxes for domestic, apo / FPO, and DPO destinations.

Medium level container or to domestic, apo / FPO, and DPO destinations.

Boardgame, big bit rate box, or big bit rate box to a domestic destination.

Boardgame big bit rate box or big flat rate box and “special version of this box” logo additional logo: “U.S. support.”. For apo / FPO and DPO, the destination price is lower than the traditional domestic large uniform rate box.

4. USPS Cubic Pricing vs Flat Rate

USPS Priority Mail cube pricing is a cost-effective way to deliver packages to different destinations as long as they are within weight limits and sizes. This will be very attractive to a wide range of online business owners.

The effect of uniform interest rate pricing is similar because these rates are also divided into five layers according to different measures. While flat rates may be more expensive than cubic prices, they may be more suitable for the type of package you intend to send.

5. Use USPS Priority Mail Cubic with Post Pony

Post Pony has apparent advantages in combination with USP. Pony post is an economical and affordable international express service project. It can reach more than 230 countries and regions in the world.

The speed of sending postal packets to some relatively developed areas is quite fast. However, if the destination is a township or town, the rate may be relatively slow because each local post has a delivery time. For example, when goods arrive in the urban area, they should be distributed to the township.

There is not a mail delivery to the township every day, but only once every 3-5 days. In this way, there is a saying that postal packets are slow to die. Most express delivery is the same; remote areas will not be delivered every day.

Although postal packages have some disadvantages, they also have their advantages.

 (1) Speed advantage: the parcel is directly handed over to China Post, without transferring to Hong Kong. After the mail is delivered to the post office, you can check the package’s status on the China Post network on the same day.

(2) China Post’s small packets are safe, and the rate of replacement is low.

(3) At present, the most widely distributed network is the postal service.

As long as there is a post office, postal packets can be delivered safely, except for a few countries and regions. (4) Compared with the four well-known express delivery companies (TNT, UPS, DHL, and FedEx), postal packets have an absolute advantage in terms of price.
